Now that the Undercover Surrealism show is over, here is my take on the material.
It was claimed in the show that Georges Bataille masterminded the magazine Documents. He did not. On the Hayward website and in other publicity for the show, Documents was described as Bataille's magazine. It was not. In the catalogue, it is stated that Bataille edited Documents. He did not, though he was one of the people who edited it.
